A Century in Bloom

The story of Dalsimer, from a flower shop in 1918
to generations of celebration.

Some stories are built around a single celebration. Others are built over generations.

For Dalsimer, the story is one of family, artistry, and an enduring relationship with flowers - shaped by changing times, new places, and the people who carried the business forward.

More than a century later, those roots continue to influence the way Dalsimer creates, designs, and celebrates.

A CEREMONY IN BLOOM

As the sun set, the ceremony came alive with candlelight, glowing details and cascading greenery. A four-post canopy framed the vows, creating an intimate garden-like setting.

The BeginningFar Rockaway, NY

1918

In 1918, Phillip T. Dalsimer opened a flower shop on Mott Avenue in Far Rockaway, New York. What began as a neighborhood florist would grow into a family business spanning generations, cities, and more than a century of celebrations.

Through changing times and generations, Dalsimer’s roots have remained in flowers, design, family, and the art of bringing people together.

A Growing Reputation

Flowers Become an Art Form

By the 1940s, Dalsimer Florist had grown to four locations across Manhattan and Long Island, along with its own greenhouse and 30-acre nursery in Brookville.

Floral artistry became an important part of the company’s story. Dalsimer Florist earned numerous flower-show awards, including first prize for “Best Garden Entry” at the International Flower Show for four consecutive years from 1954 through 1957.

A Family Business, Carried Forward

After Steven and Allen Dalsimer, leadership passed to Steven's stepson, Michael Nebenzahl.

Under Michael's leadership, Dalsimer continued to grow, eventually making its Cedarhurst location its headquarters.

By the 1980s, Michael's sons David, Steven, and James had joined the business, becoming the fourth generation to run the family enterprise.

From Florist to Event Design

Dalsimer's work grew beyond the traditional florist. Over the years, the company evolved into a major special events production company, creating decor for weddings, mitzvahs, social gatherings, and corporate events.
